We have been quite pleased t write this post as Siri is probably one of the best and most popular things becoming available on iOS devices lately. Despite Apple being reluctant to make Siri available to their other iPhone models, jailbreak developers have been busy developing ways to port this fabulous vice assistant to iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. One of the prominent jailbreak developers known as @chpwn has with help from some other developers released a new jailbreak app known as Spire. Spire enables users to legally use Siri on otherwise unsupported Apple iOS devices.
Spire employs a different way of obtaining files needed for Siri to work, thus circumventing previous issues with Apple copyrights. Also in a similar vein, instead of forcing the ensuing traffic through only one server, Siri will enable every user to choose their own proxy server. Spire is available as a download in Cydia ap store right now.
So head over and download and install your own voice assistant and show your Android using friends how cool iPhone really is! As always let us know did this app work for you.
iPhone 4S is certainly one of the best products Apple released so far. And with all its shiny hardware, perhaps the most revolutionizing feature of iPhone 4S is Siri, the new voice assistant system by Apple. And Siri became such a hot topic among Apple enthusiasts that many rumors appeared son after its initial release. Some said Siri will become available on other Apple devices, some even going as far as mentioning Siri being ported to non Apple devices.
All in all many people in the field felt the wide potential of Siri in many areas. Recently there we wrote about Siri security layers being cracked by a group of developers and now there is this report about a hacker which posted a video on Siri being ported to a server. This proxy server allegedly could be used for generating custom Siri handlers. In the video this hacker known as @plamoni shows a plugin with particular handles which help him to remotely control a Wi-fi device with his iPhone. You can see this video bellow:
You can see that his proxy server for Siri allows you to see any traffic flow appearing while he asked Siri his question. You can also see @plamoni trying out his server directly from his iPhone without any apparent issue appearing. He was able to simply ask Siri about the temperature in the room and get a straight answer from the app. This was a really cool demonstration of a hacked Siri. Imagine all the possibilities, if this works with a simple thermostat. What else could be added to work with Siri? Your imagination is the only limit! Another important note is that you don’t even need to jailbreak your iPhone 4S for this hack to work! You can see all necessary instructions for setting up such a Siri proxy server of your own, if you are skilful enough that is. We expect to see some great Siri hack in the near future. Stay tuned and we will inform you about the latest tweaks and hacks in the jailbreak community!
Apple TV is available in Amazon online store as well as on Best Buy for only $89.99 which is lower than what it costs in retail stores, which could indicate that Cupertino is preparing a launch of the next version of TV set top box. Additionally, Amazon has included a designation ’2010′ beside their Apple TV offer, which could perhaps mean that a brand new model could be coming to the store soon. It could of course only be a small unimportant detail, but in earlier cases such small changes often meant that a new product is secretly under way.
There were a number of rumors going around since May of this year, indicating that Cupertino based company is working intensively on a new model of Apple TV. This device would feature a high definition 1080 p output, iCloud integration, much larger memory space and a brand new A 5 processor for the unit.
Nobody knows when exactly will Apple choose to launch this device, but it would make a strong sense from the marketing standpoint if the device became available before or during the upcoming holiday season. If you are a frequent reader you have also read about rumors on Apple building a real TV set controlled with a Siri like voice assistant which was something Steve Jobs worked on for a long time. Anyway we think Apple will have some new and exiting offers for all Apple fans out there!
A group of developers from a group called Applidium announced that they were able to crack security protocols of the famous voice assistant which was launched first time for the iPhone 4S. This could certainly start an avalanche of third party developers and apps for other platforms. Still there are some issues and problems which will be soon more visible. For Siri to be used in this manner, every user will need a unique UDID. UDID stands for Unique Device Identifier which comes in a form of 40 character long number which is different for every iPhone.
Whenever you use your iPhone 4S it will use the UDID constantly. This is same for other devices, meaning you will need a unique UDID from an iPhone 4S. Apple could always block an identifying number, but if you keep it private for your own use, you should be safe.
Siri runs on iPhone 4S officially but we have already seen it running on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch. This seems like a step in a good direction. Still, Apple could oppose such developments strongly and if we can conclude anything by former actions by Apple against infringements, they will take any measure possible to stop this. They will surely patch the security hole which enables porting Siri with the next iOS upgrade. So if you are an developer and interesting in Siri you should hurry up and test this out while still possible!

Siri is an amazing technology and so is iPhone 4S which is the only device which features Siri at the time being. iFixit, the famous DIY iPhone repair website has just put up an interesting video explaining how exactly Siri knows the position and distance of your iPhone from your face. It turns out that Siri uses an infra-red proximity sensor.
This sensor isn’t something new, as it was existing in previous iPhone models too. The difference is that this time the sensor is always on whenever you activate your iPhone. On your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS this proximity sensor would work only when you start a voice or Skype call on your device.
With iPhone 4S, the infra red proximity sensor is always on whenever your device is activated. As you already know if you got yourself an iPhone 4S, Siri is always ready to serve you. So in order for it to always be prepared, Apple has devised this little trick with the proximity sensor. Kind of interesting thinking by Apple isn’t it? We are sure Android device manufacturers will soon try to copy this hack on their smartphones too, but until then, iPhone 4S with Siri is definitely the best handheld device on the planet. Do you agree?
After a long wait, Apple has finally presented their new products to global audience. During yesterdays big release event, Apple has streamed the complete talk, and now they have also posted the presentation to their Youtube channel. Whole presentation is delivered in three parts. First video presents the new iPhone model, and it is an iPhone 4 S as earlier predicted by many rumors. Second presentation is about voice assistant which was originally developed by Siri and afterwards bought by Apple. Siri is now a part of iOS 5 and represents a sophisticated voice recognition app coupled with clever assistance capabilities. Finally in the third video you can see a short presentation of a very important and interesting aspect of iOS, the iCloud.
Please share your opinion on these new services and products coming from Apple. Are you happy about the new iPhone model? Or did you want to see iPhone 5 instead? Let us know in the comments bellow!
