Untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 confirmed!

We are quite happy to announce to our readers that the untethered jailbreak is underway as it is being tested and developed by Pod2g, one of the best jailbreak developers out there. Hi has just confirmed in his Twitter stream that the jailbreak he tested on his iPod 3G works also on iPhone 4 iOS upgraded to 5.0.1. According to this news, this jailbreak will work only on A4 based devices, meaning that if you have iPhone 4S or iPad 2, this wont work for you at this time. Here is his tweet about the breakthrough:

Jailbreak tweet 5.0.1

Please be careful: if you are iPhone user depending on the carrier unlock with UltraSn0w, you should not upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 with Apple‘s official firmware file. As always it is quite important and highly recommended to users to save their SHSH blobs. You can use TinyUmbrella (Mac and Windows) or iFaith (Windows only) apps for this.

We certainly hope we wont wait too long for this new untethered jailbreak tool to be released! What is your opinion on this? Are you eager to get an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1?

Apple bought iPhone named domain names

Apple logo

If you are an Apple fan and also know a thing or two about internet domain names and such geeky stuff you will be intrigued that Apple just purchased two important domain names whiteiphone.com and iphone4.com. It seems that Cupertino based company has already pointed these newly purchased domain names to their web servers. Interestingly it seems that Apple is not in possession of other iPhone related domain names like iPhone 5 iphone 6 and so for.

Iphone 4 was initially launched in summer of 2010 and has since then become a global success with millions  of devices sold and shipped worldwide. Nobody knows for sure why it took so long for Apple to get this important domains and since we are close to the launch of Apple’s next iPhone model we are not sure why Apple bothered at all.

There are other interesting domain names like ipad.com and others which colud be of immense use to Apple but are still out there available to highest bidder. To remind you Steve Jobs and his company have bought the iPhone.com domain for one million $US. Who knows how much is iPhone5.com worth already?

Unscrupulous offer: virginity for iPhone 4

iPhone 4 white

Who could know that anyone would be willing to sell his kidney for an iPad 2? Well, a Chinese teen was so eager to get his iPad 2 that he was willing to do so no matter the consequences. Now similar thing happens again.

According to a rumor originating again in China, a Chinese teenage girl is offering her virginity to someone who is willing to buy her an iPhone 4. The story became internationally known after it was published in Korean newspaper. The story mentioned unidentified Chinese girl, born in 1990 who has  stated on Chinese version of Twitter called Weibu that her dream was to own an iPhone 4. Since having no other way to get the iPhone 4, she stated publicly that she is will sell her virginity to the first person who provides her with the device. The Weibu message was followed with her picture.

It seems that the post by this girl received a lot of critics and negative comments on the Weibu, and some of the comments even claimed that her account was stolen by malicious hackers. We can only hope that this is the case and that no one is crazy enough to sell itself or their own organs for a smartphone.

Apple‘s products are nice and interesting, but are they worth of your own health and self respect? We don’t think so. We wonder what could Apple’s reaction be to such weird news. We are sure that it would be a great marketing trick if they decided to send this girl a free iPhone 4. Who knows maybe we will read something like this very soon.

iPhone 4 and freezing temperatures

iphone 4 in freezing conditions

As we all know Apple is based in Cupertino California, in a hot and nice climate. Does this have any impact on how your iPhone operates?

It seems so. Your iPhone will have operating problems if you try to use it bellow 32 degrees Fahrenheit or if you live in Europe bellow 0 degrees Celsius.

It looks like Apple didn’t think too deeply about the possibility of using iPhone in colder climates like those in Nordic countries.

Apple’s specifications for iPhone 4 say that:
- the operating temperature of your iPhone ranges from 32 degrees to 95
- temperatures which will cause functionality problems or even completely disable your iPhone 4 are -4 and bellow and temperatures of 113 and above.
- humidity should be in the range from 5% to 95%
- altitude should be no more than 10000 feets

Bulk of the available informations on operating conditions on Apple website is about higher temperature working conditions. But the fact that the battery discharge in iPhone 4 is much faster or even it could completely die if the temperature is bellow freezing.
It was reported that on some iPhones displays worked significantly slower and became dimmer than what is normal on an iPhone.

Finish government agency for protecting consumers  has recently initiated an research on this issue which revealed that iPhone users in colder countries weren’t informed enough about this problem by Apple. The FCA (Finnish Consumer Agency) made a public statement informing iPhone users that they could be entitled for refund if they have encountered problems with the iPhone which were not clearly enough described by Apple.

Apple itself didn’t comment about the problem yet and the iPhone is still sold in large quantities in Nordic countries including in the cold Finland.

Let us know if you had experienced problems with your iPhone during this winter.

iPhone 4 64GB ?

iphone 64 GB

After Apple has recently announced officially a future model of 65GB iPad2 we have recently seen what is supposedly a model of iPhone with 64GB of memory. Is this just a hoax or some kind of wishful thinking or something more real? Some sources have disclosed that an iPhone 64GBhas being sold at Hong Kong famous market Sin Tak. The seller claims that this iPhones are actually prototypes and available only in limited quantities. It seems that this iPhone has been leaked from the Foxcon manufacturing facilities in China. Many analysts believe that the next iPhone model, the iPhone 5, will probably come with the 64 GB capacity which is certainly a wish many iPhone users have exposed many times before.

The iPhone on picture shows unknown model numbers an codes. It also hasn’t the usual signs on the volume buttons. Also the rear camera appears to be without the usual silver ring. This iPhone interestingly seems to be unlocked and runs on the iOS 4.1.

Apple is known for making many prototype units but these products are not usually available to the market. Will Apple upgrade the iPhone 4 to come with 64GB or will they keep this upgrade for the upcoming iPhone 5? Let us know your opinion about this.
