New Apple patent for improved video recording

Apple motion detection patent

Apple is always improving and searching for new, better solutions for every possible problem on iPhone, iPad and iPad Touch. This time engineers and designers from Cupertino are focused on solving issues appearing while recording videos with iOS devices.

A new patent filled by Apple reveals that their engineers plan to use available iPhone and iPad accelerometers and gyroscope to improve the stability of captured videos. The goal of this approach is to redefine a captured sequence in order to change it into a sequence which would be captured if the device was still.

Nowadays, almost all consumer grade cameras are equipped with devices for motion detection like above mentioned gyroscopes and  accelerometers. These sensors can capture data which indicates the unwanted movements of the camera. But still, not withstanding that these sensors can provide such data, the level of movement caused distortion can be so high that it blocks the direct use of this data. Because of this, Apple wants to have a control software for video capturing which can use the motion stabilization hardware as needed. This patent could help Apple to really improve video capturing processes on their mobile devices.

This could be a another great improvement for Apple. And it will follow the global trends as more and more images captured and share on the Internet are being made with smartphones, meaning mostly with iPhones.

New iPod Nano camera rumors

iPod nano 7G camera

Seventh generation of iPod nano will keep the camera. This rumor comes from a blog in China which claims that the popular iPod nano 7G will still be small sized device but will feature a back facing camera once again.

Another thing we don’t understand from this is how will the clip on the new iPod Nano accommodate the back facing camera as the clip obviously covers complete backside of the device thus obscuring the camera. But based on the image seen, the Phillips screws which are visible on the inside of the protective case show that it could be that Apple‘s designers have resized the clip and maybe even moved it down from the center in order to make some room for the camera.

The blog which originated this rumor is the same one which published the iPhone schematic for online viewing. So this rumor has some wight in it and we can expect to see an iPod Nano in the future  with  such a camera.
