iPad 2 Rumors: Verizon iPad 2 has a connectivity bug?

verizon iPad2 connectivity

Since iPad 2 was recently released alarming number of new Verizon iPad 2 owners have trouble connecting to the Verizon 3G network. This problem appears after manually disabling the 3G network. When they want to reconnect to the 3G network it’s not possible.

The only solutions so far seems to be rebooting of the device. Users reported that restoring the device didn’t solve this issue nor did the replacement in the Apple store help. No reliable data on number of users with this bug is known but it seems that this affects many iPad 2 owners.
Meanwhile Apple has acknowledged the problem and had started to investigate this problem. Hopefully it wont be too long until they solve this. After all this is Apple we are talking about. Highest quality is a must for all Apple products.

It is quite possible that Apple will try to solve the problem with the upcoming iOS 4.3.2 , that is, if this is a software based problem. Meanwhile you will have to be patient and if you cant connect to your 3G network, just reboot your iPad 2and wait until it finds the network. Are you a Verizon iPad 2 owner? Did you had the problem with your tablet?

Let us know about your experience and what do you think about this problem.

My3g a great jailbreak app

One of great jailbreak apps is coming from developers in Intelliborn and is now working on iPhone 4 too.

This app is known as My3G and it is basically an app which enables you to use all your iPhone apps which require WI-Fi connection to use on your 3G network. This includes such apps as Facetime, Skype and so on.

Facetime and Skype are currently working only if you have a Wi-FI connection available. There are rumors mentioning that Apple is negotiating the possibility of using Voip software like these on 3G networks too. But why should you wait for such a distant posibility?

We recommend you to use My3G instead. In order to use this app you will first need to jailbreak your device. Currently you can jailbreak with Pwnage tools and Greenpois0n jailbreak.

When you install My3G it will make all your apps perceive that you are using Wi-Fi connection while you are only on a 3G network.

There are other similar apps like VoipOver3G but they are not yet updated to work with the new iOS version. You can try this app for free for 10 days and if you like it you can purchase My3G for $3.99 from your Cydia store. Please let me know did you find this app useful in the comments area.

What is 3G

What is 3G?
The meaning of 3G and 4G Explained.
The new generation iPhones are known to work on 3G Speed.
In simple terms, 3G stands for “3rd Generation”.

With 3G, one can enjoy video calling, high-speed video streaming,
and mobile internet 6 times faster than the current GSM / GPRS networks.

First generation iPhones will only work via the slower GSM/GPRS networks, while the new 3G iPhone can operate on 3G speeds.

More specific:

3G is the  ITU (International Telecommunication Union specification) for the Third generation mobile communications technology.
3G offers the highest network speed on mobile devices. Maximum speeds of 2 Mbps can be reached ( on a fixed location) while the device can reach download speeds of 384 Kbps on a moving device.

3G will work over several wireless air interfaces such as GSM, and CDMA ( Please note: the iPhone will never work on CDMA networks ( like Verizon wireless), becourse this radio technology is not compatible with the iphone). The latest  EDGE air interface has been developed specifically to meet the bandwidth needs of 3G.

3G Technology is not available everywhere yet: Most countries in Europe have good 3G networks with large coverage, but carriers like T-mobile in the US can only offer 3G speeds in certain Areas and certain cities.

4G technology is currently in development, and stands to be the future standard of wireless devices.
This Technology will beat the current 3G network speeds multiple times. 4G networks have not been standarised yes, and my expectation is that the 4G networks will become available to the public around 2012.
