Apple has launched the first instalment of iOS 5.1 all the way back in November, and many different things happened in the Apple realm since those days. We have witnessed the breaktrhough of the iOS 5.01 untethered jailbreak, and even better, the jailbreak for iOS 5.01 for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is around the corner, according to many recent rumors. So it comes as no surprise that Apple’s is intensifying their work on new iOS releases. Remember,every new iOS firmware version will require a new jailbreak and possibly unlock. So in this vein, Apple has just launched the iOS 5.1 beta 3 version. What is new with this version?
Third testing version of iOS 5.1 comes only as OTA (over the air update) as opposing to the usual IPSW file download. As with previous beta versions, this one introduces a number of bug fixes and small incremental improvements in the system. Apple plans to release final version of this firmware as a permanent solution to a number of issues with iOS. According to some rumors beta 3 of 5.1 firmware reintroduces the most wanted 3G toggle in the Settings app. If you remember, this was one of problems many users pinpointed when iOS 5 was officially released back in October, 2011. Toggling of your 3G connection should improve your iPhone and iPad battery lifetime,as the Edge connection only is much easier on the batteries, while maintaining your devices connectivity.
As usually, Apple is allowing only certified developers to access this beta version. Anyways if you are not absolutely sure you know what you are doing, you should probably stay clear of the this upgrade. Still, it is fairly easy to get a license from Apple. You’ll need only to pay a yearly fee, and then you will be granted access to all beta version releases. If you are a developer, you can update your device right now. According to Taiwanese Apple dedicated blog DigiTimes, Apple wants to release at least two new iPad models. The cheaper version could become available at a tempting price of only $299. According to this rumor, both new tablet models by Apple should run on new A6 processors with the only major difference between those two models being in their display resolution.
It seems that someone inside Apple’s hardware manufacturing partners has leaked this story on two iPad models. One of this models should cater the high end market, while the second $299 priced device should lure the lower end segment of the global market. The better device should have screen resolution in the 2048×1536 range while the other one could use the same resolution as what is now available with iPad 2, meaning 1024×768.

American Airlines has being granted use of iPad tablets in commercial airlines instead of traditional charts and manuals by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Same company has previously asked for the approval for using iPads with electronic charts during the last summer, and the tests have proved that iPad can be used as valuable tool for airplane crews. This will definitely add iPad to airliner cockpits.
The company will be first to officially use iPads on their flights during all flight phases. Tablets will be used as electronic charts and flight manual repositories. The first planes to become equipped with iPad wil be B 777 airplane, and subsequently all other airplanes in their fleet will get iPads. This move will significantly increase the safety and efficiency of every flight deck. Both iPad 1 and iPad 2 will be used for this purposes.
We are sure that other companies will quickly follow with this. Official approval came from FAA after through testing and thousands of hours in operation in another various circumstances. Yet another proof of superior quality of Apple tablets. We are sure Android tablets wont be used for this or similar purposes for a long time!
iTunes 10.5.2 is adding a number of incremental improvements for iTunes Match on all iOS devices. Besides new improvements some bugs get solved with this new upgrade including the audio distortion bug, where playing some particular CD caused decreased audio quality. Apple did not reveal other improvements coming with this upgrade but we believe three are other ones well hidden.

Its been more than four weeks since Steve Jobs, founder of Apple passed away but many people still feel the need to pay respect to one of the most influential and inspirational business leader of our times. Many ordinary people have created various tributes to show their appreciation to Steve Jobs but here is one which really stands out.
United States Patent Office in Alexandria, state of Virginia has opened an exhibition made of enormous iPhones presenting more than 300 patents by Apple’s exceptional CEO and his team.
Name of Steve Jobs is connected to some of the most important Apple patents like those essential ones which can be found in iPhone and iPad. Interestingly one of Steve Jobs patents was used in a recent lawsuit against Samsung in Australian court and this helped Apple to get the injunctions against Samsung selling their tablet in Australia. The exhibition will be open to the public until 15th January.
Itunes University now features another great series. This time Stanford University has decided to upgrade their already existing course for iPad and iPhone to be compatible with recently released iOS 5. The main instructor for this course is Stanford’s Paul Hegarty who delivers 9 interesting and immersing lectures which will teach you the bare bones of iOS app development. Verizon has just launched a new commercial which makes fun of their main competitor AT&T. The advertisement shows a group of a survivors from a sunken boat trying to call for help with their iPhones. The call wasn’t possible as they are out of ATT network coverage. And after a couple of funny Mc Gyver like attempts like making a boat from pants and asking for other similarly wise ideas, one of the survivors calmly uses his iPhone 4S to call the Coast Guard. Can you guess which network was used on the only connected iPhone 4S? Yep, thats right. It was a genuine Verizon iPhone 4S which was able to call for help! Verizon obviously never stops making fun of AT&T coverage problems.
This time we have to admit it also looks quite funny.

Apple TV is available in Amazon online store as well as on Best Buy for only $89.99 which is lower than what it costs in retail stores, which could indicate that Cupertino is preparing a launch of the next version of TV set top box. Additionally, Amazon has included a designation ’2010′ beside their Apple TV offer, which could perhaps mean that a brand new model could be coming to the store soon. It could of course only be a small unimportant detail, but in earlier cases such small changes often meant that a new product is secretly under way.
There were a number of rumors going around since May of this year, indicating that Cupertino based company is working intensively on a new model of Apple TV. This device would feature a high definition 1080 p output, iCloud integration, much larger memory space and a brand new A 5 processor for the unit.
Nobody knows when exactly will Apple choose to launch this device, but it would make a strong sense from the marketing standpoint if the device became available before or during the upcoming holiday season. If you are a frequent reader you have also read about rumors on Apple building a real TV set controlled with a Siri like voice assistant which was something Steve Jobs worked on for a long time. Anyway we think Apple will have some new and exiting offers for all Apple fans out there!
One NASA engineer has made a fabulously looking Halloween costume by using 2 iPad 2 tablets sewn into a costume. Both devices have FaceTime apps running and the effect is rather chilling. It appears that the person wearing this costume has a large zombie looking hole in his mid section. The creative guys name is Mark Rober and he is the one responsible for this funny idea.
