iPhone Unlocking Benefits

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Today we will discuss some benefits of unlocking the iPhone.

First we should explain what unlocking means: Unlocking means breaking free from your current carrier.
After you unlock the iPhone you will be able to use any SIM card from any carrier in your iPhone.

When you buy an iPhone, the phone will most likely be “locked” to the AT&T network ( in the US) to O2 in the UK, or to T-mobile in various European countries. Your iPhone is locked to the network from the carrier where you bought your iPhone from. It is not possible to use any other SIMcard in your locked iPhone. The lock in the phone prevents the phone to receive any signal.
Carriers like AT&T require you to buy a 2-year contract when you purchase the iPhone. Unless you unlock the phone you will only be able to use the original AT&T ( or O2) SIMcard in your phone.

When you unlock your iPhone, you will be able to use any SIMcard & Any Carrier that you wish.

The benefits are clear: you will be able to use cheap local (pay as you go) simcards in the phone, and make phone calls at cheaper local rates. ( instead of using the expensive roaming services) You can use the iPhone on cheaper networks ( especially data rates are often very expensive on the standard iPhone carriers) You can use more then one phone number on the iPhone, and switch your simcard at any time you wish.

Of course you can always use the original AT&T ( or O2) simcard after unlocking. The unlock does not affect the way your iPhone works ( if you use a good unlocking service) it only enables the phone to accept any simcard.

Other benefits of unlocking your iPhone are the addition of Cydia and installer on the unlocked iPhone.
Our application also jailbreaks the iPhone so you can download 1000′s of software applications to your iPhone Freely. More info about Jailbreaking and activating the iPhone soon!

Review of some sim unlocking cards

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

First of all what is sim unlocking and why should you consider it?
Sim unlock is a hardware unlock solution for your 3G iphone.

How does it work?

After you buy the sim card unlock you will have to insert the sim card unlock (it is basically a small micro controller unit) in your iPhone. This device is positioned between your sim card and the
iPhone. Its role is to spoof the network ID during the sim registration process.

Is iPhone unlocking illegal?

No, unlocking is not illegal at all.

Why should I unlock my iPhone?

There are few reasons but one of the main reasons is that if you want to travel you will probably want to be able to us your iPhone with different locally available prepaid sim cards. That is not possible until you unlock your iPhone.

Please take notice there is no software unlock solution for 3g iPhone! Because of restrictive policies toward iPhone users Apple has practically forced many of its customers to unlock their iPhones. For somewhat older 2G iPhones there is a reliable working software unlock solution on the market. But for the now more popular 3G iPhone a hardware unlock solution is developed. In fact at this moment there are about 25 different unlock sim cards available on the market which are developed during last few months. These unlock sim cards are of various quality and have different technical capabilities.

Beside the card itself, the end user should also carefully decide where and from whom should he purchase his card from. On todays market it is a well known fact that sale coupled with reliable customer support is different than sale of products without any warranty and customer support. So this is even more so when you are considering a purchase of such an product like a unlocking sim card. You can very easily become frustrated if you find yourself in some problem with your iPhone and without any technical support from your sim card seller. The problem which will for an unexperienced person look unsolvable, will be a solved in a minute by someone who is experienced in the area.

Also there is an always existing risk when you buy any item. You can have bad luck and get a faulty sim card no matter how rare this happens. So if you don’t choose wisely you merchant you are putting yourself into higher risk. Usually lower price of a product means lower or non existent customer support.

So we have find out that there are various sim cards on the market with various price tags attached to them and with various customer support available. To make things easier for the new iPhone users we have done some extensive tests to see how will different cards function in the real world.

After these tests our conclusion was that there are serious problems and malfunctions with many of those cards and that many buyers are dissatisfied with good reasons. There are some technical problems which appear to be more troublesome in some particular network couriers than others. Among number of different sim cards that didn’t get past basic workability tests we have decided to fine test this sim cards:

i-Smartphone Sim, Yessim Sim and 3GSim.

First we have tried i-Smartphone SIM and we found out that with this
sim unlock: sms, calls, and data in and out is working
GPS: is working Constant network dropping every few days
Conclusion i-Smartphone failed because of network dropping

Next card to test was the Yessim SIM:
- sms, calls, and data in and out was working nicely
- Unfortunately the GPS didn’t work as expected
- signal loss: frequent
Conclusion: this sim card is not of high enough quality

Next card to test was 3Gsim – www.unlockediphone.info
-sms, calls, data in/out: working
-GPS: working without any problem
-there is no loss of signal
Conclusion: this card is working without any problem since 09/21/08
